The Sacred September Reset: How to Reclaim Your Energy After Summer Chaos

September always feels like a deep exhale after a wild summer sprint.

Even without little ones heading back to school, this season brings a collective shift. The energy softens. The calendar cools. And we start craving rhythm again, something sacred, sustainable… slower, more intentional. And if you’re witchy like me, the dark part of the year is calling to your soul, beckoning you to dig deeper and recommit to yourself.

I used to hit September in a panic, back when I was mom to a little one. My son is now 20, but I remember the hustle and bustle. The meet-the-teacher nights, back-to-school PTA meetings, band and athletics sign ups.

There was so much to “catch up” on. So much to “get back on track.” (Hello getting back on that school sleep cycle, am I right?)

And, of course, the old productivity mindset would kick in: Time to get serious, Megan.

But these days? I treat September like the energetic new year it is.

This is my Sacred Reset.

  • I pause.

  • I soften.

  • I listen.

Here’s how I reclaim my energy and prep my business for a beautiful fall, in a way that honors my body and supports my work:

1. I Revisit My Golden Hours

Instead of diving into a full-blown schedule, I ask:

When do I feel most alive, focused, and clear during the day?

These windows become the anchors for client calls, content creation, and deep work.

No more pushing through my low zones. No more 2 pm burnout. This is about alignment, not optimization, because you and me? We’re humans, not machines.

2. I Reset My Energetic Containers™

I don’t plan by the hour; I plan by the vibe. My week is built around:

  • ✍🏼 Creative Flow (for writing, podcasting, dreaming)

  • 🤝 Client Connection (calls, coaching, conversations)

  • 🧘‍♀️ Quiet Admin (emails, finances, backend)

Matching my day to my energy (instead of forcing the opposite) changed everything. I show up fuller, brighter, without the crash. My nervous system is also soothed because I know that I have all my to-dos taken care of, in their own individual Energetic Container™ of time. I’m not forgetting anything and that’s a huge relief!

3. I Do a Nervous System Audit

This is sacred.

I ask myself:

  • Where am I leaking energy?

  • What obligations no longer feel true?

  • What does my body need more of this season?

Then I cut the noise. I simplify. I strengthen my boundaries and expand my rest. This is a great time to reset, before the holidays start flowing in. My holiday season starts on October 1st with a ton of cool Halloween & Samhain events already on the schedule, and the holidays end for me sometime mid-January, so my September is a big deal.

4. I Commit, With Ritual

I seal the reset with a mini ceremony. Sometimes it’s lighting a candle and writing a few intentions. Other times it’s a new playlist, a walk in silence, or reorganizing my altar.

It doesn’t have to be big; it just has to be sacred.
